Quality Inspector Level 1

Job Description


This position is a trainee position to learn Quality Control and Inspection Procedures and Processes in a professional manufacturing environment. Learn and perform quality control functions. This includes receiving product from suppliers and customers, first article, in-process and final inspection through shipment to the customer.



Group I

  1. I am paid to Think!

  3. In-process control

  4. Inspect work from subcontractors and certifications.

  5. Final Product Inspection

  6. Inspect customer furnished property including, blanks and castings

  7. Control in process quantity frequency

  8. Utilize all measurement tools (Micrometer, calipers, gage blocks, etc.) to inspect parts.

  9. Inspect incoming materials. Verify size, quantity and material certifications.

  10. Insure that all inspection reports, customer and internal documentation are properly


  1. Inspect incoming subcontracted work where size change to product occurs.

  2. Run CMM to inspect parts.

  3. Run OGP Smartscope Vision system and other CNC Inspection Systems

  4. Review inspection reports & CMM reports for accuracy.

  5. Maintenance and cleaning of inspection equipment and Quality Control department.



Training and Experience: Minimum of 5 years machining experience and inspecting your own work in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Demands: The employee is required to:
- stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
- exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
- exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or
- exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

Licenses Required: None

Visual Acuity: Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts.

Hearing Ability: Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.


Working Conditions: the employee is subject to:

- high noise levels from operating machines
- physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts
- breathing fumes, dust and mist
- skin exposure to oils and cutting fluid

The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
